Library Events

1. Library Orientation (September 6-9, 2016) – Teachers will sign up to bring their class to the library in order for students to learn about checking books out of the library. Students will also be able to find out about the services offered in the school library, as well as library expectations.
2. Fall Book Fair (October 10-14, 2016) – Teachers will have the opportunity to sign up their classes to come to the library so students may purchase books. Students may also come individually or in small groups.
3. Game Day (November 18, 2016) – Students will have the opportunity to earn the reward to come to the library to play games in the library.
4. Celebrate Picture Books (November 28, 2016) – Classes or grade levels will be able to come to the library to go to different stations containing picture books written by popular authors, such as Patricia Polacco, Tomie dePaolo, Leo Lionni, and Gail Gibbons.
5. Holidays Around the World (December 12 -16, 2016) – Teachers will have the opportunity to sign their class up for an adventure around the world. Classes will learn about holidays in different countries at multiple stations around the library.
6. MLK, Jr. Book Day (January 17, 2017) – Classes or grade levels will come to the library to listen to a grade level appropriate biography about Martin Luther King, Jr. Teachers will have the opportunity to complete an activity in their classrooms afterwards.
7. Presdient’s Day Reading (February 21, 2017) – Classes or grade levels will come to the library to listen to a grade level appropriate biography about a president. Teachers will have the opportunity to take an activity to complete in the classroom.
8. Read Across America (March 3, 2017) – Special guest readers will be in the library throughout the day in order for classes or grade levels to come listen to a story written by Dr Seuss. Students may dress up as their favorite Dr Seuss character.
9. Spring Time Book Talk (April 13, 2017) – Classes or grade levels will come to the library to read different spring time books (fiction or informationa0) and answer discussion questions printed at each station.
10. Read Through Summer Challenge Begins (May 19, 2017) – Classes will come to the library to receive information about the summer reading challenge.
